Week 1 Storybook Favorites

The three projects that I liked from my initial search are The Aviarium, Fairytale Case Files, and An Owl's Tale. Caution will contain spoilers...

The Aviarium: I particularly like the idea behind this collection of stories regarding a secret room inside a bird museum exhibiting mythological bird creatures. I took the time to read each individual story and was impressed with the amount of detail and personality the creator of this work put into it. You are immediately greeted with a beautiful image of different bird displays, which is shown below. I think an interesting direction that could have been taken with this idea is instead of making the stories follow the protagonist, maybe making it to where we are reading the plaque of the exhibits or maybe a brochure for a self-guided tour.

Fairytale Case Files: As an avid X-Files fan, when I read the title of this collection of stories I immediately thought of Agents Mulder and Scully. The idea of having a character acting behind the scenes to make a fairytale creature's "happily ever after" come true is very creative and adds a completely new layer of magic and intrigue that the classic fairytale stories already have. I can see this idea taking off and potentially becoming a television series or maybe a series of books.

An Owl's Tale: I got a very Harry Pottery feel from this collection of stories. Alice, the main character, is an injured owl in an habitat that only wants to share her stories with her caretakers and groups that come to gawk at her. My suspicions of a Harry Potter reference were confirmed when only one little boy could understand her. I am not sure why, but I was extremely happy when Brooke, the zookeeper told Alice and her other bird friends that they were going home. It was a nice touch too to have her tell Alice a story of her own.
