The first couple chapters of this reading are about the myth of Demeter and Hades negotiating the fate of Persephone.
- Maybe I can use the general theme of the story to make my own?
- i.e. someone taken against their will, but bound by a certain fate (Persephone breaking her fast and eating a pomegranate) and then after the negotiation becomes happy as with their double life?
The next couple stories are about a sowing competition between Athena and Arachne.
- Tie the two stories together.
- Have the protagonist of the story be competing against a god or an expert. The protagonist uses his/her wits to beat the god (maybe the hero cheats???) and is punished by being taken against their will?
- The hero becomes happy because he realizes that he can excel in the environment in which he was wrongfully taken?
The final stories in this collection are similar to what happened between Athena and Arachne... only much more gruesome. Niobe, being very bold demanded the same praise that was given to the gods and in return lost everything.
- It would be interesting to make this the god's fate after demanding too much... the people rebel and take everything away from him or her.
- Maybe use the hero from the previous idea and have them rally a force to dethrone the god?
